The Kono Conference 2016 - London
The aim of the London Kono Conference was to provide a conducive environment for all stakeholders to discuss and debate the challenges and opportunities facing the Kono District, the Kono indigenous ethnic minority and descendants of the district, with speaker presentations on key sustainable development and human rights issues, followed by question & answer sessions and stakeholder discussion workshops.
Stakeholders were invited to speak at the conference on topics relevant to the conference theme and the issues faced by the Kono District and Kono indigenous ethnic minority.

Strategies communities, particularly indigenous communities, have enactedto engage with or resist mining / extractive industry companies.
LMN work for human rights, including the rights of Indigenous Peoples and workers, and for sustainable development (development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs) in communities around the world affected by the activities of mining companies based in or funded from London
